Dr. Matthew J. Coats Dr. Matthew J. Coats opened his orthodontic office in 1999 to serve the communities of Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lewisville, Coppell, Double Oak, Argyle and Copper Canyon.

    • Dr. Coats is a native Texan. He attended dental school at the University of Texas in Houston, Dental Branch. After completing dental school in 1989, Dr. Coats set up a new private general dentistry practice in his hometown of Arlington, Texas.
    • After eight successful years as a general dentist, Dr. Coats returned to school to further his education. He attended Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for his specialty training in orthodontics.
    • Dr. Coats is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association and the Fort Worth District Dental Society.
    • Dr. Coats became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry while he was a general dentist. He has taken hundreds of hours of continuing dental education in his career.
    • While in his orthodontic residency, Dr. Coats developed, tested and patented an appliance that can eliminate the need for extraction of permanent teeth during orthodontic treatment. The appliance "The Coats' Translator" is currently offered for use by a national orthodontic laboratory.
    • Dr. Coats is also an Associate Clinical Professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the Department of Orthodontics.
    • Dr. Coats has been married to his lovely wife, Tracey, since 1991. They have two beautiful children, Lauren and Landon.
